About 12 Inch Boys Bikes

12" wheel bikes are aimed at younger boys, aged around 2 to 4 years old. Most cycle manufacturers consider the 12" wheel bikes to be the right size for a first bike. There are bikes for younger, or more specifically smaller children, with the 10" wheel bikes. But you will probably find more choice in the 12" range, and you are also likely to find bikes from the more "serious" manufacturers, such as Specialized and Scott, as well as Apollo and Raleigh bikes. Also, most of these manufacturers will offer these small bikes with stabilizers already fitted as standard, so you won't have to. This can be really helpful for any little rider just starting out, although it is possible to remove them once they are no longer required.

If your child is below 85cm, it might be better to start him on a 10" bike, or better still, a balance bike.
